LookingOut1: Andre

CLOUD (http://incandescentcloud.com/aboutcloud/)

September 12, 2012

CLOUD was created by Canadian artists Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett for Nuit Blanche Calgary on September 12, 2012. It essentially consists of over 5,000+ community collected burnt out light bulbs and several strategically placed incandescent lamps inside. The structure's skeleton was constructed with steel hand-bent into an organic tree-like form.

I love how the artists were able to combine a massive amount of relatively simple and mundane objects to form a playful interactive structure that draws people of all ages in to participate. This exhibit also prompted people to look at their discarded household object in another light (pun intended) and encouraged people to recycle and repurpose their everyday items.

SXSW 2013 Festival

Sonos Playground Deconstructed is an installation by Aramique, Red Paper Heart and Fake Love at the Museum of the Moving Image. It was originally presented this year's SXSW Festival. It consists of 5 detached walls with black and white stripes hanging over a reflective floor. Projectors and depth cameras map the surrounding environment and provide stunning visuals of music and motion. Visitors of the exhibit can select any song on an iPad running Spotify and watch as the walls oscillate with the music and their own body movement.
