Project #1 Botanicus Interacticus
Created by Research by Ivan Poupyrev in collaboration with Philipp Schoessler, Jonas Loh/Studio NAND, and Munehiko Sato.
Botanicus Interacticus is a technology for designing highly expressive interactive plants, both living and artificial. Driven by the rapid fusion of computing and living spaces, they take interaction from computing devices and places it in the physical world using livings plants as an interactive medium.
This project includes electronic technology and machine learning theory. I think the highlight of this project is that the interface is plant, which is non-invasive and various. The value of this technology is that it connects the interaction between human and plants to the cyber space.
Project #2 The Chime: Scoring The City
This project explores the relationship between sensing technology and the routines of everyday life. City is all too commonly represented by abstract systems and maps, a tendency driven by a reductionist pursuit of efficiency, and one which ignores the idiosyncrasies occurring on street level.
This installation use 18 sensor to collect the signal of a city street and translate them to a beautiful music of city's flow and pulse.
